Why This Project Matters
Lyube Petrov has been painting since 2007 — oil on canvas, acryl, mixed media — with works in private collections from Prague to Munich. His art carries the weight of Bulgarian folklore, mythology, and raw human emotion. But his website? It didn’t reflect any of that.
We took this project because we believe an artist’s digital presence should feel like walking into their studio — not clicking through a generic template.
The Belief Behind the Design
Art doesn’t need explanation. It needs space. Every design decision was guided by one principle: let the paintings breathe. No decorative elements competing with the canvases. No clever UI tricks stealing attention. Just generous whitespace, full-bleed imagery, and typography that knows when to be quiet.
What We Did
- Designed a gallery-first experience — paintings load edge-to-edge, organized by year (2007–2026), creating a visual timeline of artistic evolution
- Built a custom WordPress theme — lightweight, image-optimized, and easy for Lyube to update with new work
- SEO for artists — structured data for artworks, optimized image loading, and metadata that helps collectors and galleries find his work
- Responsive to the last pixel — paintings look stunning whether you’re browsing on a 27” display or a phone on the train
The Result
A portfolio site that finally matches the quality of the work inside it. The site loads fast, presents 20 years of art in a coherent visual narrative, and has become Lyube’s primary digital presence for galleries, collectors, and press inquiries.
